August 2026 Release Notes

Written by Emily Burrows

A P&L built for operators, a new way to analyze spend, and AI that works directly with your books.

This month's releases help you answer those questions faster.

📊 Your P&L Now Works the Way You Do

Accountants read a P&L top to bottom. Operators read it channel by channel.

What's new

We rebuilt the Profit & Loss, the Balance Sheet, and the general ledger on an entirely new reporting engine. This isn't just a redesign, it's a different way to look at your business.

Your P&L now follows a contribution margin waterfall, in the language you actually use: Sales After Discounts, Net Sales, Gross Profit, Contribution Profit, Operating Profit (EBITDA), Net Profit. Cost of Delivery gets its own section, and uncategorized transactions are separated out so they don't obscure the numbers you care about.

Break down your P&L

For the first time, you can break down the entire report by:

  • Sales channel

  • Shopify sales channel

  • Platform, including Shopify, Amazon, TikTok Shop, and Stripe

  • Revenue stream, including DTC, marketplace, wholesale, and services

  • Fulfillment channel (FBM or FBA)

Combine dimensions to build the exact view you need, like revenue stream by channel, and see it monthly, weekly, or compared with another period. Period comparisons are available within the current year.

What else you get

  • Ledger drill-down: click any number to see the transactions behind it, and preview the ledger without leaving the report

  • KPI metric cards: your most important numbers at the top of the report

  • Report controls: set how many vendors or customers appear, show or hide zero rows, and choose your view preferences: values by amount, by percent, or both, divided by 1,000, with or without account numbers

  • Exports that keep your view: export any report view to Excel or a synced Google Sheet with breakdowns and comparisons preserved, including the general ledger and individual account ledgers for very large companies

  • Export history: re-download a past export instead of rebuilding it

The Balance Sheet has been rebuilt too, and your legacy reports will remain available for now while you get comfortable with the new experience.

Rollout

The new reports are rolling out account by account, and many customers already have them. If you don't yet, they'll reach your account as the rollout continues. Your legacy reports remain available for now while you get comfortable with the new experience.

Up next

The same rebuild is coming to your Cash Flow and Trial Balance reports, along with more configuration options, including breakdowns by B2B customer, vendor, and bank account.

🤖 Ask Your Business, Then Take Action

What's new

The Finaloop MCP connects your live, reconciled financial and operational data to Claude and other MCP compatible AI tools, so you can use AI like an always on accountant and data analyst.

Ask questions like:

  • "Why did contribution profit fall last month?"

  • "Which vendors increased the most quarter over quarter?"

  • "What caused the change in Amazon margins?"

  • "Compare my P&L for this month against last month and show me the three biggest changes."

MCP isn't limited to answering questions. It can also take operational actions in Finaloop, including working with bills and invoices, classifying transactions, scheduling reports or alerts to email or Slack, and, for InventoryIQ customers, purchase orders.

You'll now find ready made prompts and connection instructions inside Spend Analysis, so you don't have to start from a blank chat box.

Why this matters

Your AI isn't analyzing an outdated CSV or guessing from disconnected dashboards. It's working from the same current, reconciled data that powers your books.

💸 Spend Analysis

What's new

The new Spend Analysis page gives you an operational, cash basis view of outgoing money. You see spend when it happens, rather than spread across accounting periods the way bills are in your P&L.

What you can do

  • Break down spend by category or by vendor

  • Spot costs creeping up month over month

  • Track your largest vendors and see which ones are new

  • Drill into any category, vendor, or transaction

  • Filter by period or business entity

Coming soon: Peer benchmarking, so you'll be able to compare spending on areas like advertising, software, and shipping with similar brands.

📦 Walmart 2.0

What's new

The Walmart integration has been rebuilt on our new data platform and orders model, and it brings the most requested Walmart feature with it: automatic COGS recognition for sales based and InventoryIQ users, with no manual entries.

What you get

  • Real time sales: sales data is fetched every few minutes, instead of arriving on a delay tied to Walmart's bi-weekly reports

  • Walmart Marketplace orders: every order appears on your Orders page with its payments, fulfillments, and restocks, the same as Amazon and TikTok Shop

  • Improved ledger breakdown: drill into each accounting entry, linked to the Walmart order behind it

  • Full inventory support: WFS warehouses, seller fulfilled warehouses, products, and inventory purchases

  • SKU analysis: units sold, revenue, and margins for every product

Walmart Reconciliation Report

You can now reconcile Finaloop's sales in the P&L against Walmart's product sales numbers, the same way you already do for Amazon.

Reconciliation runs per settlement period: pick the same bi-weekly settlement period in Finaloop and in Walmart Seller Center to line the two up. Only closed cycles can be reconciled. Gaps are broken into adjustment buckets based on your accounting method (cash or accrual), and each bucket links to the orders behind it.

Find it in Report Center → Reconciliations → Walmart Reconciliation Report, or from the Show reconciliation link on the Walmart sales row in the new P&L.

🏦 Shopify Credit, Mercury Treasury, and Divvy Connect Automatically

What's new

Shopify Credit, Mercury Treasury, and Divvy now sync automatically without manual uploads.

🧾 Smarter Vendor Recognition on Transactions

What's new

A new vendor classification model extends the vendor recognition already running on your transactions. It finds transactions across our entire customer base whose descriptions closely resemble yours, and when enough previously classified transactions point to the same vendor, it uses that to name the vendor on a new one.

The model covers gaps the previous one couldn't fill, meaning less manual work for you.

👀 InventoryIQ: Supply Chain History

What's new

Supply chain history log. Purchase orders, shipments, receipts, and transfers now keep a complete history of who changed what and when. Open an entity and click the eye icon to see it. Tracking runs from August 2026 forward, so actions taken before then don't appear.

✨ Also This Month

  • Bills got a rebuild. The new View bill and Edit bill pages include a clearer payment breakdown, with each payment type on its own row (regular, credit, refund, scheduled, indicative, adjustments, and parent bill rows), loan details for externally financed bills in a collapsible section, and an All bills back link that keeps the filters you applied. The edit form now validates before saving, so an invalid edit is blocked up front instead of failing silently.

  • Faster bulk invoice uploads. Invoice files from known platforms are converted to Finaloop's bulk upload format automatically and appear in your account within a few minutes. Nothing changes in how you submit them.
