About
We sync your sales, fees, and units sold from many sales channels automatically but information about items restocked is more limited for certain sales channels, including Amazon and TikTok Shop.
If you restock products, whether for Amazon or TikTok FBM (Fulfilled by Merchant) or TikTok FBT (Fulfilled by TikTok), we'll need information from you about these restocks.
Note on Shopify restocks: We sync the restock data for Shopify automatically so it's important to ensure your restock data in Shopify is properly updated.
To make this as simple as possible, you can report restocks at the total channel level (sales based only) or at the SKU level, either manually or via bulk upload.
Use the option that best fits how you track your inventory today.
Refunds vs. restocks: What is the difference?
A refund and a restock are two separate events that affect your books differently.
A refund is when you return sales funds to a customer. It reduces your net sales but a refund alone won't have an impact on your COGS or inventory.
A restock means the physical unit has returned to your warehouse. When a product is marked as restocked, Finaloop increases your inventory value and reduces the COGS for that SKU.
A refund can occur without a restock, and a restock can occur without a refund. For accurate financials, both must be reported correctly based on what happened in the real world. Refunds are synced automatically by Finaloop but you'll need to report restocks for Amazon FBM, TikTok FBM and TikTok FBT in Finaloop.
How to report restocks in Finaloop
You can report restocks using one of the three methods below.
1. Report total restock value per channel
This option is ideal if you track total restock amounts outside Finaloop and do not need to break them down by SKU.
Go to Inventory in your Finaloop menu.
Click the Report per channel button.
Type: Select COGS from the drop down menu.
Period: Select the relevant time period (day, month, date range) and enter the relevant dates.
Amount: Since a restock reduces your COGS, add the total restock amount as a negative value.
Sales channel: Select the relevant sales channel from the dropdown, like TikTok Shop.
Click Save.
Entering a negative amount increases your inventory value and reverses previous COGS for those units.
2. Add SKU level restocks for each product
If you want to track the number of units restocked for each SKU, you can add restock quantities directly in the product.
Go to Inventory in your Finaloop menu.
Head to your Products tab at the top of the page.
Click on the specific SKU that had restocked items.
Find the box related to the relevant sales channel, like TikTok Shop, and click on the pencil icon.
If you don't see the relevant sales channel, click +Add to COGS, select Sales channel and then select the relevant channel from the dropdown.
Add the units restocked in the restocked column for each month.
Click Save.
This method adjusts COGS and inventory for each specific SKU.
3. Bulk edit restocks for multiple SKUs
This option is recommended if you have many SKUs with restocks or prefer to bulk upload data from a spreadsheet.
Go to Inventory in your Finaloop menu.
Head to your Products tab at the top of the page.
Click on Actions, then Bulk unit edit.
Select a sales channel from the dropdown.
Select the method for calculating the adjustment.
Replace - Replaces the existing records for the selected product in the chosen month.
Add on-top - Adds the value to the total of existing records in the system.
If you are only adding restock information, select add on-top.
Update units restocked either by SKU or click Actions and then Import CSV file and follow the instructions to upload a CSV file with the relevant data for each sales channel.
